Facts & Information about Small Species
Smaller cats usually belong to more delicate and svelte breeds and maybe one of these makes just the perfect kitten for your home. Let’s take a look at some of the small cats breeds.
First, we have to mention the Asian group of breeds. This include the Burmilla, the Asian Smoke, the Asian Tabbies, the Asian Self and Tortie and the Tiffanie, among others. All these Asian breeds present cats small to medium sized, considered exotic in physical characteristics but sharing the thinness and smallness feature.
Another small cat is the Balinese. Ideally, a svelte cat with long tapering lines. Its softer lines and less extreme type give this breed a small appeareance, and it’s hardly ever fat, rather presenting and excellent physical condition.
The Colorpoint Shorthair is also medium sized but svelte, and a very refined cat. Similar to the Siamese but with its own colors.
Also, the Cornish Rex cat is distinguised from all other breeds by its soft, wavy type. Although it tends to be heavy and warm to the touch, it’s always gently curved and easy to handle.
Another small cat breed is the Javanese. A svelte cat with long lines, presented somewhat as an exotic breed. It’s neither flabby nor bony. Always in good condition and appears to be lighter and smaller than other breeds.
A breed such as the Siamese also displays small elements within itself. Not every Siamese is small, they are rather medium sized. But generally, the more refined types within the breed are small sized and svelte, presenting themselves as light animals, very lithe but muscular.
Finally, another example is the Singapura breed. This is an alert healthy element small to medium sized. Large eyes and ears may affect its svelte appearance, but it is however a delicate cat with a refined coloring.
The above presented are just some examples of what you can find when you go looking for a small cat breed. Most cats breeds are generally classified as medium, but in appearance they don’t all look the same. A svelte long thin lined cat may look smaller than a short compact one. The same happens in terms of amount of fur, colors, and size of ears and tail.
Don’t be afraid to walk into many pet stores to find the right small cat for you! They are all adorable!
